about

The proposition that sound could be divided into minuscule quanta was first postulated by physicist Denis Gabor in the mid 1940s, and taken to its extremes by composers such as Iannis Xenakis and Horacio Vaggione. This is a collection of pieces that are based around the study of sound quanta, short sound events better known as sound particulate. The first and last pieces were produced by digital granular synthesis techniques, and the second was composed using software synthesizers.
